SHREVEPORT – On his interview two years ago, LSUS’s first strength that Chancellor Dr. Robert Smith noticed was the dedication of faculty and staff.
The University honored 20 faculty and staff members who’ve reached important service milestones Wednesday at the 2025 Service Awards.
Milestones between 10-40 years were recognized with LSUS’s 20 honorees totaling 475 years of service to LSUS.
“The dedication of faculty and staff is the primary reason why I wanted to come here,” Smith said. “It’s really appropriate that we recognize staff and faculty on milestone anniversaries.
“I want to congratulate and thank you for your dedication to this institution, to our students, and to our mission.”
One faculty member and one staff member were honored for 40 years of service.
Doug Bible has served at every level of the College of Business from faculty member to department chair and interim dean.
Mary Hall has made her presence felt in every administrative assistant role, currently serving Student Affairs.
Three members reached the 35-year mark with LSUS – Kenna Franklin, Kay Stebbins, and Helen Taylor.
Celebrating three decades is Scott Harwick, Gary Joiner, and Christopher Smith.
Reaching the quarter-century mark is Linda Wimbley.
Members at the 20-year mark include Alicia Atkins, Tulin Melancon, and Kermit Poling.
Four faculty and staff have served for 15 years, including Sherri Bohannon, Jason Elliott, Tami Knotts, and Kerry Shockley.
Wayne Cooper, Melissa Hawthorne, Debbie Holloway, and Matthew Radnia have served for 10 years.
“Long-standing service from key faculty staff and leaders is one of the most valuable assets that an employer can have,” said Rob Lindsey, director of human resource management at LSUS. “The institutional knowledge gained, and more importantly, shared over long careers is made possible only by employees who have made career commitments to this university.
“It’s becoming more uncommon today to see this level of dedication.”
Lindsey thanked the LSUS Foundation for its sponsorship of the event and gifts given to honorees.
